As Kyran became engulfed in leafy branches the sky became black and the moon rose out. Its pale white rays bounced off the vines. Kyran glanced at the moon, but paid no mind to it. He needed to check out this area before it got too dark. Trudging along, he heard a scratching in the distance. Kyran froze, listening. He heard what sounded like growling, and the shrill shriek of a small animal. Kyran looked over his shoulders, and then ducked behind the nearest tree. He heard the crunching of twigs, which meant the creature was moving. Kyran quietly pulled out his bow and an arrow, poising for action. He squinted his eyes, looking for any movement.
Some bushes to the far right rustled, and an earsplitting howl entered the air. Kyran flinched, then opened his mouth in horror. A huge, black beast bigger than a human leaped from the bushes, blood glistening in its fur. Kyran aimed with his arrow and let loose. However, he fumbled his grip and the arrow completely missed the beast. Kyran cursed under his breath. The creature looked up, fury in its glaring eyes. It lunged towards Kyran, and he quickly ducked to the right. The beast snarled at Kyran, exhaling a puff of hot air from its nose. The hero looked at its bloody fangs and sharp black claws in terror. The creature looked like a wolf, yet it seemed too large and intelligent to be one. The two stared at each other silently for a few moments. Then Kyran scrambled to his feet and ran off.
Fantasy Story Excerpt
Fantasy
note: Portions of this essay thingy will be shown in the animation project for Friday
Fantasy is a genre usually associated with kingdoms, dragons, kings, queens, sorcery, monsters, and heroes, though fantasy can take place in more modern settings such as our present world. You may know about fantasy from books such as the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. Some books in the fantasy genre that I have read that I like includes Graceling and Fire, both by Kristin Cashore, Harry Potter by J.K Rowling, Incarceron by Catherine Fisher, Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer, and the Septimus Heap series by Angie Sage.
For an exact definition, Fantasy is a genre of writing that pairs normal aspects of our world with surreal, fictional aspects. Supernatural and mythological elements can make up parts of the plot, setting, or characters.
Fantasy has a vast history, but modern fantasy was said to begin with George MacDonald’s novels back in the 1800s. MacDonald was an inspiration for future fantasy writers such as J. R. R. Tolkien, author of the Lord of the Rings series. As most of you probably know, fantasy was catapulted into the spotlight with the release of the Harry Potter series, which became immensely popular. Fantasy before the modern period could be seen in Greek mythology and ancient tales like Beowulf.
Fantasy has found a place in media other than books, such as role-playing games like Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest. The Legend of Zelda also fits into the fantasy genre with the plot of a hero on a quest to save the world from an evil lord, whilst interacting with different creatures. Board games such as Dungeons and Dragons are well known parts of the fantasy genre.
Currently I am writing a story about a legendary, well-known hero of a fictional world whose life is turned upside down after being bitten by a werewolf. Among this many rumors are spreading about bandits, the main enemies in this world and story, being involved in some sort of heinous plot that I haven’t exactly come up with yet. The protagonist has to deal with his condition whilst working alongside another famous hero, a clever but easily angered woman, to rid the land of evil.

Fiction Genre-The Exciting Revelation of Something
The genre I should be writing about will be… Not told until the next post! Ah, just kidding. I will be focusing on writing about Fantasy. A world filled with humans and the supernatural. A world where adventure awaits, where anyone can become… eh, you get the idea. If I have the time (and want to peel my butt off the chair) I might make a short movie to present on Friday.
Life
“Geez, I’d hate to live another day in this world,” grumbled Old Man Jenkins, reading the newspaper.
The next day an ambulance wheeled out a body from his home.
The Great Bazar
Signs were posted everywhere with the phrase,”The Great Bazar! Saturday till Tuesday! See the great fire swallowers and the dancing elephants!” Crowds of people bustled through the streets, rushing to see all the great attractions and tasty food. Timothy tugged on his mother’s dress.
“Mother, can I please go to the Great Bazar?” he asked, putting on his best puppy dog face.
“The Great Bazar?!” she responded, bewildered.
“The Great Bazar was a hundred years ago. One of the tents caught on fire and most of the people there perished,” she said, looking at Timothy.
“Oh,” Timothy said, glancing back.
Fiction
Hang in there, boys and girls! Soon some awesome brain candy in the form of fiction should be coming soon!
MUH FIRST POST HERP A DERP!!!!
So, this is a blog, huh? Normally my reaction to anything is a long string of swear words followed by beating the nearest object into a pile of splinters, but I guess this will be an exception. Now excuse me while I glue my eyes to the shiny screen and drool over the features of this “blog.”
